Who is Taylor Henderson?
Born in Houston, Texas, pop culture played an instrumental part in Taylor’s understanding of the world from a very young age. Quiet and sheltered, his adolescence was spent obsessing over TV, music, and performers like Brandy, Toni Braxton, and Beyoncé, who gave him an outlet to live out his fantasies and escape (because growing up gay in The South ain’t easy, y’all). These obsessions shaped his identity and inspired him to dive headfirst into a lifelong pop culture obsession.
In 2015, Taylor graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/TV/Film Production and Studies, a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, and a Business Foundations Certificate from the McCombs School of Business.
He began his career in Austin, writing for exposure in various music blogs. His videography skills and strong written voice lead to part-time jobs for various production companies and pop culture publications until he landed a full-time job as a Social Media Coordinator for theCHIVE. There, he produced memes and video content that went viral over and over again, most notably the infamous #WandsOutForHarambe image J.K. Rowling shared, then had to apologize for, making international headlines. This was much cooler back in 2016 when she wasn’t as problematic, but so is life.
In 2017, Taylor moved to Los Angeles to work for PRIDE.com and committed himself to sharing LGBTQ+ stories by uplifting voices not often heard in queer media. He became a full-time freelancer in June of 2022 and currently has bylines in Paper Magazine, Spin Magazine, Out Magazine, Fodors, Out Traveler Magazine, Alt Press Magazine, Stylecaster, Advocate Magazine, Backstage Magazine, Billboard, Blavity, PRIDE.com and more. His music obsession naturally led to him founding the WerQ and OnlyStans podcasts, as well a react channel on YouTube.
Taylor is currently writing his first YA novel.
